Goals for a Recreation League...

Fun: All of the research on kids sports indicate that children play sports because it’s fun. When the fun is replaced by adults pressuring to win, the children usually quit playing. The QSL’s main goal is to provide the opportunity for kids to play and enjoy soccer.

Instruction: Soccer is a difficult sport for younger children because it requires balance and coordination with out hands! The goal of QSL is to help all coaches and parents to understand that each child is different and all need instruction and support in their efforts.

Growth: It’s amazing to watch how individual players progress from year to year. The QSL wants EACH player to have the opportunity for growth by assuring that each player plays in 1/2 of each game. The only way to grow in soccer is to play soccer.

Teamwork: Soccer is a game which demands Team effort. In the first few years the bigger athletic kids can dominate or CARRY their team, but as they grow older the fields get bigger and the teammates CATCH-UP in the athleticism and all players begin the realization that for the team to be successful, all players have to work together. The QSL encourages coaches to let kids play various positions to be able to enhance the teamwork concept.

Example: QSL wants to encourage families to get involved in their children's play by attending practices and games. Support the efforts of the kids and coaches. Our ultimate goal is to have every player in the QSL be able to play soccer in an atmosphere of family togetherness and POSITIVE adult role models who they can emulate. This includes parents - coaches - referees and other players.
